I hope that everyone had a great thanksgiving whether you were with family or friends. I came home from Thanksgiving with something to be very thankful for. I got a nice little package from Phat ‘n’ Phunky Phonics. Inside the package I found a brightly colored 7″ by Arizona band, Diners.
Diners have been pumping out really sweet pop rock tunes since 2011. Their full length, “Always Room” was a breath fresh air for me last year. My sister’s friend Sanam turned me on to them and after catching their set at the VLHS I was hooked. That record is fantastic and if you haven’t checked it out, you should.
“It’s All True”, picks up where “Always Room” left off. Filled with poppy rock songs. When I listen to Diners, I get a Neutral Milk Hotel feel to it. Maybe it is just me, but I hear a lot of NMH influence on this band. These are simple but extremely layered songs. Everytime I listen to a Diners song I hear something new about it. Another layer to unravel.
Diners could be the most interesting band that you are not listening to. You can fix that problem.
I predict a HUGE 2016 for this band.
You can also still get this record at PnP.
